Personal and professional development wellness escape

One-day Reconnecting to Wellness Escape

Wellness and wellbeing are often used interchangeably, but they are two quite distinct concepts. Wellness usually relates to physical health and habits and behaviours to prevent ill health. A broader definition allows for wellness to be defined as different areas together contributing to wellbeing, like emotional, physical, social, workplace, financial, societal and spiritual wellness.

Wellbeing is a state of mind, rather, and refers to feeling happy and satisfied with yourself and your life in general.

Wellbeing is therefore a more comprehensive and holistic term. Well being (or being a well (human-) being) means you are living in balance with positive feelings of fulfillment, happiness, health, wealth, social connectedness and purpose.

The name of our escape is aptly chosen, to reflect our checking in with some of these areas of wellness. Working on all these areas, means we are working towards wellbeing.

The first step on this path to wellbeing, is identifying where we currently are. We do this, by checking in, in the here and now. By being present. The fast-paced living of the twenty-first century allows limited time to really be present. Being present means being aware of how your body feels right now, being aware of the thoughts and feelings in the present moment and allowing yourself to intuitively notice what your current needs are.

On our escape, we will allow time to, metaphorically, stop time and to notice. We will make time to reflect on the competing commitments and the many balls we juggle in life. Grounding and connecting exercises, meditation, movement, silent contemplation and journaling will be used to create space. Space for new ways of being.
